Our team

Susan Nickey has played a central leadership role in several start-up environments that have grown into robust and successful businesses. She was a key leader in Acciona Energy’s entry into the North American market. Under her leadership the company developed, financed, owns and operates more than 802 megawatts of renewable energy. Nickey has 25 years of executive leadership experience including Acciona Energy, ABN AMRO Bank and Mesirow Financial. Nickey is a recognized leader in the industry, having served on the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) Leadership Council and the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) Legislative and Finance Committees.

Marty Crotty has 30 years of experience across multiple generation technologies in roles that have included President of AES Wind Generation and CEO of UpWind Solutions. He led the successful acquisition of over 300 megawatts in a 3-year period and managed growth from 100 megawatts to 1,500 megawatts in a 5-year period at SeaWest Windpower Inc. and AES, respectively. Crotty served as the O&M Advisor to the Board of Directors of the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) and Co-Chair of AWEA’s O&M Working Group.

Peter Kampian is a Chartered Accountant, C.A., with 30 years of experience in investment, power generation and infrastructure in public and private companies. Kampian served as CFO for Algonquin Power, where he completed numerous public offerings to raise equity and public debt in excess of C$800 million. He also held leadership positions at Superior Energy Management and RiverBank Power Corporation. Kampian’s experience has been largely working across the U.S. & Canadian border on power generation asset acquisitions and financial management.

James O'Brien is a partner of Baker & McKenzie and Chair of the firm's Global Energy, Mining and Infrastructure Group. He has been practicing law for nearly 30 years and has represented sponsors in significant renewable energy transactions in both wind power and solar energy. O'Brien previously served as outside General Counsel to Oncor Electric Delivery Company and advised TXU Corp., ScottishPower and Calpine Corporation in major M&A transactions. He has lectured widely on energy and environmental law and has testified before the U.S. Congress concerning proposed legislation.
