In November 2012, Peter Kampian became the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Threshold Power. Kampian is an energetic financial executive and Chartered Accountant with 30 years of experience in investment, power generation, manufacturing and infrastructure. He has worked in private and public companies. Kampian’s experience has been largely working across the U.S. & Canadian border on power generation asset acquisition and financial management.
Kampian began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers where he was a manager in the Business Investigation Practice. During his time at PwC Kampian pursued and achieved his status as a Chartered Accountant from the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. In 1987, Kampian joined Scotia McLeod, the retail investment arm of the Bank of Nova Scotia, as an Investment Executive.
In 1992 Kampian joined Indal Ltd., and soon thereafter became Controller of their subsidiary, Indalex Aluminum Extrusion, a company with annual sales of over C$250 million. Kampian was responsible for all of the financial functions of the company and served as a key member of the team that successfully implemented Top Quality Management (TQM) program and ISO 9000. Kampian also led the cross-border consolidation of the North American Extrusion Group on an integrated J.D. Edwards software platform.
Kampian joined Algonquin Power Income Fund in 1999 as Chief Financial Officer and completed numerous public offerings to raise equity and debt in excess of C$800 million to achieve the company’s growth and acquisition objectives. Algonquin Power was a publicly traded income fund with an enterprise value of more than C$1 billion, which owns and operates power-generating assets in the U.S. and Canada. During his eight-year tenure at Algonquin Power, Kampian was responsible for all annual filings including Annual Reports, Annual Information Statements and all tax filings. He completed the acquisition of numerous companies and partnerships in Canada and the United States. While at Algonquin, Kampian negotiated the credit agreement with a bank syndicate for the acquisition and operating lines for Canada and the United States. In this role, he also managed relationships with key analysts, banks, equity markets and investors.
In 2007 Kampian joined Superior Energy Management as Vice President of Finance. Superior was a subsidiary of a C$1.5 billion public income fund. At Superior, Kampian initiated the implementation of IFRS and led the implementation of streamlined accounting and reporting processes. He also led and completed negotiations with a U.S. vendor for a long-term securitization gas supply agreement with a potential value of more than C$1 billion.
From 2009 until joining Threshold Power, Kampian worked in senior roles with companies in infrastructure, power generation and renewable energy development including Riverbank Power Corporation where held the role of COO. At Riverbank he completed a senior and subordinating financing deal for two hydro electric projects in the northwestern United States totaling approximately C$38 million.
In addition to being a Chartered Accountant, Kampian also completed his Bachelor in Business Administration at Wilfrid Laurier University. Kampian resides in southern Ontario and in his free time enjoys golf and skiing.
